Virendra Bannu

Born in 1965 at Jaipur, Virendra Bannu, son of the renowned Bannuji, and a seventh generation artist, continues to live in the same old house in the ‘Mussavviron Ki Gali’ street, taking forward the legacy in a specialized fine art form. After receiving his BFA and MFA degrees in Painting, both with first class,, he has taken charge of the Bannu School, training students from around the world in miniature art techniques using traditional methods and materials, which he continues to use for his own work in miniature painting. Credited with designing the tableaux for Rajasthan for the Republic Day Parade, he has also done glasswork, aaraish (murals), gold and mirror work and wall paintings. His work and designs adorn several restaurants and residences in Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Delhi. His work has also been part of many national and international shows. Winner of several awards, including the state level Academy Award and the Best Drawing Award by Rajasthan Lalit Kala Academy, he has given numerous lecture demonstrations and participated in several art camps and workshops.
