Born in 1977 at Mumbai, into a Christian family, painting on iconic themes came naturally to Paul Bhonsle. Starting at an early age, the self-trained artist’s work is instinctive, and comes in a combination of the traditional with contemporary, classical Indian with Russian and Christian religious art. He pains mainly in oil but enjoy using different media, including gold and silver leaf, and photo inks. Paul’s repertoire includes experimentation in a variety of sizes, shapes and surfaces. His imagery that rotates around the biblical narratives and themes has been exhibited not only in galleries but also homes, hotels and religious sites. He has participated in many group and solo shows and his works have found their way into private collections across India and in New York, London, San Francisco, and South Africa. The artist is based in Mumbai and works as a fulltime freelance artist.
