Mohammed Zubair

Born in 1981 in Delhi, Mohammed Zubair passed his graduation in arts from a Delhi University college, and holds a certificate in Arabic Language, and a diploma in Calligraphy and Graphic Design. His command over lines and letters coupled with his expertise in design and graphics is reflected in his calligraphic compositions in Arabic, Urdu, Hindi and English. Using a range of fonts and styles of calligraphy his art adorns, what he describes as Qalam-dawaat (wooden pen and Ink) marks. He has worked with Urdu Academy Delhi and with various NGOs. His calligraphic art has been part of several exhibitions and he has participated in and conducted various workshops including those organised by Indian National Ttrust for Art and Cultural Heritage, Dastkaar and National Mission for Manuscripts. Currently working as the Head Instructor at a calligraphy centre run by Delhi government, the artist is trying to keep alive a nearly extinct art form. Mohammed Zubair lives and works in Delhi.
