Reva Shankar Sharma

Born in 1935, Reva Shankar Sharma belongs to a famous Pichhwai artists’ household of temple town Nathdwara. He started to paint at fifteen and trained under his father Jaganath Sharma and the famous artist late Lakshmilalji and Shri Ghasiram. His colourful imagery based on religious icons and themes that evokes a meditative spirit is rendered in traditional style using a mix of organic materials. He has given lectures and conducted workshops and demonstrations on his work and techniques at numerous colleges and organizations. His paintings have taken him places all around the world, where they have been well appreciated. Felicitated with National Master Craftsman Award for miniature paintings and a fellowship from the India Government, he has also been honoured with state level awards for his contribution towards miniature paintings of Rajasthan. The artist lives and works in Nathdwara.
