Suresh Kumar Dhurvey

Suresh Kumar Dhurvey born in 1973 is a Gond artist from Madhya Pradesh. Like all others in his village he learnt to paint as a child from his elders and refined his skills through rigorous practice. Inspired by folklore, local flora-fauna and rituals his work features landscapes, animals, birds, and local deities. In dots and simple lines his work visualizes narratives in lucid details. Suresh has worked on paintings and wall murals. His work has been part of collections and shows at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Adiwasi Chitrakala Pradarshini, Ausandhan Kendra, M.P. Hastkala Shilp Vikas Nigam Ltd- all in Bhopal, and at Calicut in Kerala, Craft Museum in New Delhi, Kala Ghoda in Mumbai, Crafts Council in Chennai, and the National Gallery of Canada among others. His art has been featured in books including ‘The Magic Makers’. The artist lives and works in Bhopal.
