Rajesh Chaitya Vangad

Rajesh Chaitya Vangad is a traditional Warli artist. A resident of Dahanu, in the Thane district of Maharashtra, Rajesh is largely a self-taught, after having received initial lessons in the art form from his parents. A simple, unassuming man, Rajesh prefers to let his paint and brush do the talking. He creates Warli paintings of different sizes and patterns with consummate ease. Though simplistic in their appearance, his paintings come with a rhythmic elegance. Rajesh has exhibited his work at Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Bhopal in India, and London and Barcelona in Europe and through the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited, as well as the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
